  Hi. How’s your day been?
She – a bit surprised: Oh hi. :) It’s been fine. How was yours?
You: Stressful. I have so much to do because of that exam I have next week. I have to read two more books and they’re not an easy read.
She: Sounds tough!
You: It is. Btw I’m John! Nice to meet you!
She: Emily, nice to meet you too!
You: So.. What do you do?
She: I’m a teacher!
You: Really! At which school?
And the conversation is on! You just broke the ice and can now get to know her better!

It’s always a good idea to do an activity that doesn’t require much attention parallel to having a conversation. Something like billiard, darts, bowling, cooking, sports, taking a walk,…  It takes the pressure away and makes everything flow smoother and more natural.
A little tip on the side:
In case you are a good pool billard player, let her win but don’t make it too obvious.

Overcome Approach Anxiety Step By Step

One of the most common mistakes I observe over and over is good guys who turn crazy as soon as they talk to an attractive woman. Counterintuitively, the path to solving this problem is by starting conversations with everyone but women you are attracted to.
Start step by step:
Step #1:
You can begin by starting conversations with friends of friends, people you don’t fear talking to. Don’t move on to the next step until you feel 100% comfortable with this step.
Step #2:
Chat with strangers whose job is talking to customers e.g: bartenders, waitresses, salespeople etc. These folks won’t reject you! It’s more or less their job to be nice to you and to give you a good feeling.
Step #3:
After that talk to random people you are not attracted to whenever an opportunity arises.
Step #4:
And finally: Talk to women you are attracted to. Hot women are humans too. Don’t act differently around them. They want to get to know you with all your good and bad qualities and not an actor who constantly tries to trick them into bed!
Your order of progression with these steps could be different. Always take one step and practice it until you feel comfortable, then increase the difficulty slowly.

Some Personal Tips That Have Served Me Well

  1. People LOVE talking about themselves. Ask open ended questions during conversations. Those are questions that force people to answer you with more than one or two words. Most of these questions start with “how” or “what”.
Examples: “What is it like to live in Denmark?”, “How do you envision your life after college?”, “Is there something that you’ve dreamt of doing for a long time?” Also, check out these open-ended questions.
  2. Earn the other person’s trust by showing vulnerability. Allow them to see your weaknesses and never play too cool for school! If the other person trusts you he/she will open up and be much more perceptive.
  3. Don’t hide what you’re thinking and express your opinion clearly. Nothing is more boring than a person who tries to be liked by everyone.
In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.

Consider that it’s ok not to get along with everyone. That’s a good thing because it helps filter out people who aren’t compatible with your vision of life.
  4. Practice listening. Most people think about what to say next while the other person is still talking. Never ever do that! It just distracts you, makes you come across as a bad listener and lets you run out of words!

Any question whose answer will vary can be considered a open Question. For example you ask someone what they like and why they like it?  The answer to this will vary from person to person. One more example you can take is ask people do you believe in ghosts or something like that?  Again the answers will vary and thus such questions are considered open ended questions :)
Traci McDonough
Traci McDonough, Embracing being different, enjoying others who are strange. Uniqueness is cool.
I don't have tons of examples, but maybe a few to get you started. Firstly, an open question is one that cannot simply be answered by "yes" or "no".  A couple of examples  of closed questions are:
  1. Did you enjoy the concert?
  2. Did you think the salmon was cooked properly?
  3. Do you like Mr. Johnson's new fedora?
You can say yes or no without further elaboration necessary.
Some open questions may be as follows:
  1. If I meet you in nine years from now, what would you have had to do to consider yourself to be a good parent?
  2. Tell me where you read or heard about fly fishing?
  3. What is the main point you are trying to discover when reading this essay?
To maybe make the first three questions open questions, you may reword them as follows (or any way similar):
  1. What was your favorite part of the concert and why?
  2. If you did not enjoy the way the salmon was cooked, how would you have preferred it and what difference do you think it would have made to the taste?
  3. Mr. Johnson's new fedora is certainly unique - can you think of any other types of hats throughout history that may also look good on him - can you name a couple?
This is probably the shortest answer I've ever written on Quora - it worries me that this means it is not informational in nature. I hope you get the idea. If not, I'm certain others will give you answers more along what you are looking for...

  •  calming to gently soothe away the tension in your body                                                                     "This has worked miracles for me. This has been a Godsend. I have had anxiety problems for about 10 years now. The usual general anxiety- feeling anxious for no apparent reason, panic attacks, feeling completely uncomfortable when doing 'normal' things like going out to dinner or to the movies. Xanax has helped me with this a great deal. It works, and I would have had a lot more misery without it. However, Xanax is very addictive and unnatural and leaves me with some side-effects like feeling spaced out and drowsy etc. I take Xanax a few days a week (maybe about 3 on average) at a dose of .5 mg, just to give you a frame of reference if you are in a similar situation. Enough for background information-

I have tried a few different herbal remedies, looking for something that could help to provide me with relief from anxiety that was not addictive. Skullcap by itself didn't do much, if anything. Lithium Orotate seemed to have no effect. Chamomile capsules do seem to relax the stomach a bit but don't do much mentally. I was taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night, and noticed maybe a little difference after taking it but was ready to pretty much give up on the stuff. A light bulb went off when I realized I was splitting the dose in half, pretty significant for me as I am 6'1" 210 lbs. (maybe 212 after Christmas :) ) When I took the two caps together, I felt better than I had for a LONG time, even compared to some times being on Xanax, because my thoughts were clear and I didn't have the guilt that goes with taking a tranquilizer, but I still felt much more relaxed than usual.

So, here is why I say I have some proof: I have a heart rate monitor for working out. I have taken a ton of readings messing around with it while I am sitting around the house and my resting heart rate tends to be about 85-90, which isn't bad, but you can do a lot better. I put the heart rate monitor on prior to a workout the day I finally took the correct dose of Serenity and was feeling good, and I was amazed to see my heart rate was 65! I took over 10 readings over then next half hour and all were between 62-71 or so. A huge difference. About a week has gone by and I have continued to have the same results- feeling much better and it has the same continued positive effect on my heart rate. I have read more about Serenity, the way it works to relax your mind is by stimulating alpha brainwaves, the state of mind achieved through relaxation and meditation that brings you to a calm but clear headed mental state. It makes perfect sense to me as far as describing what it does for me mentally. I have found that a self-hypnosis CD I use and recommend "Creating Calm and Inner Peace" By Glenn Harrold, seems to be much more effective while I am feeling the effects of this. It is easier for me to slip under and have my mind more open to the suggestions, as there is far less going on as far as the random thoughts and clutter. I'm not saying I was perfect, but I felt much better able to cope. The rest I feel will be up to desensitization, which is a whole other subject for dealing with anxiety, but one that works...

    How much you can take:
add maybe another 200 mg of Theanine powder, and see if it doesn't improve the effects even more. It is gathered from tea, and is used widely in Japan, and has been for years with no problems that I could find. Good luck and I hope that you get some relief.

Meeting women online DATING the internet isn’t hard. But

If you want to get a QUALITY woman, someone who’s mentally stable, attractive, and most of all – fun – then here are some tips you need to know about how to meet women on the internet.
TIP 1: Be Extremely Specific About The Type Of Woman You Want To Meet.
Very few guys ever write in their profile what it is they are really looking for.

Be Honest and Open

Here’s the thing though – if you are extremely clear and specific about the type of girl you’re looking to meet, it will actually GET those types of women to respond to you!
And contrary to popular believe, it won’t scare off too many girls who don’t fit the profile of the woman you want either. Most women respect a guy who knows what he’s looking for, and they’ll contact you anyway hoping they can “broaden your horizons.”
It’s a very powerful thing to be specific with what you’re looking for in a girl. Don’t be afraid to go into detail about how you want your girl to look and act.
TIP 2: Explain What You’re NOT Looking For.
Telling people in your profile what you’re not looking for can be just as effective – if not more so – than telling people what you are looking for.
For instance, saying something like: “I am NOT into girls who like to be smacked around, so if you’re into abusive guys, please, do not contact me.”
In this instance, you’re actually using what you’re not looking for to communicate to girls reading your profile that you’re not someone who’s abusive, and this implies you respect women and would never hurt them.
But you’re phrasing it in such a way where you’re putting the girl in a position where she has to prove to YOU that she’s worthy of your time, and not the other way around.
This is a very powerful tactic.
TIP 3: Don’t Include A Picture In Your Profile.
Profiles with pictures get a lot more searches than profiles without pictures, but I’ve found that if you’re the one contacting women (and let’s face it, very few women send out emails on these sites), it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a picture up.
In fact, it works out better. Just say in your profile “I’m worried about some crazy girl on this site cyber-stalking me, so I’m not putting up a picture. But if you email me, I’ll send one to you. Promise.” That will be good enough for a response from a girl.
The key here is to let their imagination fill in the gaps of what you look like, and have the words in your profile be what attracts them to you as opposed to your picture.
This is a great technique for guys who maybe aren’t all that attractive, or are insecure about their looks.
TIP 4: Sign Up For Multiple Dating Sites
Just like you wouldn’t just hang out in one bar or club to meet girls, you don’t want to hang out on just one website to meet girls either. It’s always best to belong to multiple dating websites if you can, because it increases the number of women you can meet!
Here are some of the sites I like to use to meet women on the internet
  • MySpace
  • Match.com
  • eHarmony
  • Plenty Of Fish
  • OKCupid.com
Some of these sites are free, some you have to pay for, but all of them will get you results!
So don’t just limit yourself to one dating site. Go for two or three if you can.
TIP 5: Write Funny Emails
Humor is the most attractive thing you can do online. Writing emails that aren’t the same old “hey, what’s up?” or boring emails like “I noticed you liked blah, blah, blah in your profile, I like blah, blah, blah too,” are very powerful.
And the easiest way to do that is to write emails that are funny.
Sending an email that says something like: “Hey, just wondering how many guys with half-naked pictures of themselves have contacted you today. I’m taking a survey. (Don’t ask.)” can get a girl to respond to you instantly.
TIP 6: Get The Girls On The Phone Quickly
Don’t spend too much time emailing back and forth. People are very different over email than they are on the phone. By the third email, you should be asking for her number.
Once you have the number, call her up and talk to her. This is where you’ll find out if there’s some chemistry there, and if there is, you can go ahead and set up a time to meet.
The biggest mistake guys make is they wait too long to talk to a girl on the phone. Don’t let this happen to you! Understand that she’s probably getting contacted by lots of other guys, so if she’s a winner, you don’t want to lose her to someone else.
Work fast, and you’ll see some good results.
